Preference will be given to applicants who live in Burnley. Preference in the first instance will be given to applicants who currently live in Burnley and have done for more than 3 years. Home visits will be completed. This involves a requirement to demonstrate applicants are able to maintain their home to a high standard. Customers with substance or alcohol dependencies, that affect their ability to make a positive contribution to the community, may be rejected if they are unable to demonstrate successful engagement with a rehabilitation programme. Customers assessed as requiring support to maintain their tenancy will be required to accept support from our recognised partner agencies. This Local Lettings Plan will only consider those applicants who have not been involved in incidents of anti-social behaviour, nuisance or drug misuse; within the last 5 years. Preference will be given to applicants who are actively contributing to the community of Burnley by meeting the following criteria: permanent employment of 16 hours per week plus, self employment of 16 hours per week, training for employment and volunteering for 16 hours per week plus in Burnley. For the purpose of the Local lettings Plan, the attachment sets out the type of applicant who will not be re-housed at the Tay Street development. Each household will be assessed on its own merit against the following criteria and in exceptional circumstances the landlord retains the right to allocate at its own discretion. All applicants, including homeless applicants, will have to pass the test of not being cautioned or prosecuted or had any legal action taken against their tenancy for anti social behaviour, serious harassment, nuisance and drug misuse.
